The creative beginning of this pinecone is that I love making small things huge. First of all, it's just a kind of silly and playful thing to do, which I hope comes through in all my work. Secondly, it's about pausing and zooming in on simple and beautiful pleasures. That moment when you're hanging out outside, and you pick up a pinecone and turn it around in your hand. You trace its repeating geometry with your eyes, feel it poking your fingertips, noticing how the light catches it in surprising ways.

While realism might happen in my work, I lean more into cartoonish shapes as a way of capturing my lense on the world, colored with awe and optimism, like when I look carefully at pine cones.
